An Duong District Police (Hai Phong City) are temporarily detaining Pham Van Lanh (26 years old, residing in Dai Ban Commune, An Duong) to investigate the act of property theft, and are searching for Hung (34 years old, from the same commune as Lanh).
Authorities said that at 11am on January 20, Lanh and Hung went to the flower field in Hoa Nhat village, Dang Cuong commune, to steal property. Pretending to be customers buying peach blossoms, the two thieves mixed in with customers from other places who came to choose peach blossoms for Tet.
When discovering the Honda Airblade motorbike of peach garden owner Do Van Khang left in the most accessible position, Hung distracted the owner, then signaled Lanh to steal the motorbike.
However, when Lanh sped away, he was discovered by the locals, chased and handed over to the police of Dang Cuong commune. Hung ran away when he saw his accomplice being arrested.
Confessing to the police, Lanh admitted to stealing Mr. Khang's motorbike with Hung.
