Groundbreaking ceremony for the overpass project connecting National Highway 46 with the North-South railway.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of February 15th, the Construction Corporation of Transport Works 4 (Cienco4), in coordination with the People's Committee of Nghe An province, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the investment project to build an overpass connecting National Highway 46 with the North-South railway.

Attending the conference were Comrade Nguyen Sinh Hung - Member of the Political Bureau, Chairman of the National Assembly; Central Committee members: Nguyen The Trung - Deputy Head of the Central Committee's Mass Mobilization Department; Vuong Dinh Hue - Head of the Central Committee's Economic Department; Tran Van Hang - Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee; Nguyen Van Binh - Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam; Trinh Dinh Dung - Minister of Construction; Phan Dinh Trac - Deputy Head of the Central Committee's Internal Affairs Department; Nguyen Xuan Thang - President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; ...along with leaders of central ministries, departments, and agencies.

Representing Nghe An province were: Mr. Ho Duc Phoc – Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; along with other members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and representatives from provincial departments and agencies.

The overpass project on National Highway 46 (QL46) crossing the North-South railway line is invested by the General Construction Corporation of Transport Works No. 4, with a total estimated investment of VND 450 billion under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) contract model. The project's construction scope extends from Km15+128.00 to Km15+840 of QL46. The bridge is designed as a permanent structure using reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete with a span of 11 spans, including one 24m span over the railway and 10 33m approach spans, with a total bridge width of 20.00m. The approach road section will be widened by an additional right-turn lane, 3.5m wider than the bridge width, with a total width of 23.5m. The approach road and bridge section, approximately 712m long, will be newly designed and constructed according to approved standards and planning.

According to the plan, the project will be implemented over a period of 12 months, to be completed in April 2015. This project aims to reduce traffic congestion and accidents at the intersection of National Highway 46 and the North-South railway line, and to enhance train safety on the North-South railway line.

Groundbreaking ceremony

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong emphasized: The construction of this project fulfills the aspirations of the local Party Committee, government, and people in resolving traffic congestion and safety issues at level crossings between roads and railways, contributing to the completion of the province's transportation infrastructure system; connecting Vinh City with National Highway 1, Ho Chi Minh Highway, and the Western route, creating conditions for trade and socio-economic development of the province. He assigned responsibility to the Vinh City People's Committee and relevant departments and agencies to focus on decisively directing the implementation of the project, urging construction units to promptly allocate personnel and concentrate equipment and machinery to ensure the committed progress, so that the project is completed on schedule, with guaranteed quality and aesthetics. He also called on the people in the project area to agree to hand over the land as soon as possible to ensure the project is completed on time.
