Dortmund puts Barca in a difficult position in the Dembele case
The German club made a strong statement after failing to reach an agreement with Barca in negotiations over striker Dembele.
"The club held negotiations with Barca about the possibility of transferring Dembele. During this meeting, Barca made an offer that was not in line with the player's ability and value to the club, as well as the current transfer market situation. Since no agreement was reached, Dembele remains a Dortmund player," Dortmund's announcement on August 10 said.
According to Goal, the German club wants about $150 million to agree to sell Dembele. In contrast, Barca only paid about $110 million.

Dortmund's high price tag on Barca is not too difficult to understand, according to transfer experts. The Spanish team recently received a record fee of 257 million from PSG's purchase of Neymar.
Dembele has been a Dortmund player since the summer of 2016 for just 17 million. The French striker moved to Germany after just one season of shining with Rennes in Ligue 1.
At 20, Dembele is one of the most promising young players in Europe. The star wearing the number 7 shirt has scored 22 goals in 79 matches and is also a French international.
In another development, Dembele skipped Dortmund's training session on August 10. This could be a move to put pressure on the board of directors regarding the transfer issue. As a warning, Dortmund's coaching staff decided to fine Dembele.
