Burning branches and leaves, a resident caused a fire that burned nearly 168 hectares of forest.
Just because of being subjective when burning branches and leaves after harvesting eucalyptus forest, a farmer had to go through criminal proceedings when the damage was more than 3.2 billion VND.
Investigation results show that at around 4am on June 27, Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc entered his family's eucalyptus forest in Dong Lon area, sub-area V9.6, Luong Phuoc village, Hoa Phu commune, Tay Hoa district, which had just been exploited, to collect branches and leaves. After collecting the branches and leaves, Mr. Ngoc lit a fire, and at around 7am the same day, strong winds caused the fire to flare up fiercely.

Although he tried to use tree branches to put out the fire but failed, Mr. Ngoc called the owners of the adjacent acacia and eucalyptus forests to come to the scene to coordinate in extinguishing the fire, but by then the fire had spread rapidly over a large area. The Tay Hoa District People's Committee mobilized hundreds of people, including military officers, soldiers, and police, to coordinate with local militia to fight the fire for more than a day and night to extinguish the fire. However, the fire burned nearly 168 hectares of planted forest, and the Tay Hoa District Property Valuation Council concluded that the damage was worth more than 3.2 billion VND.
