Police in Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City, announced that they recently raided and uncovered a facility specializing in producing high-end drinking milk from unregulated Chinese ingredients.

The police are sending milk samples from Phuoc Sinh Loc Food Processing and Trading Company Limited, owned by Mr. Le Tan Phuoc (born in 1980, from Vinh Long), to relevant authorities for testing. The aim is to clarify and prosecute him for the crimes of "illegal business" and "deceiving customers".

Milk suspected of being produced from Chinese ingredients was seized by the police.

According to information provided by the police, at 4:30 AM on June 26th, the economic police team of Binh Chanh district police unexpectedly raided an unnumbered house in Group 7, Hamlet 2A, Vinh Loc A commune, Binh Chanh district. There, the police discovered various types of powdered milk of unknown origin.

The police seized 19 bags of raw materials from China; 22 bags of raw sugar from China; 8 bags of NDC milk powder from China; 80 kg of labels for various types of milk such as Gina Milk Calcium, Pigo, Gina Milk Australian skim milk... along with many machines used to produce milk such as milk mixers, can sealing machines.

In addition, there were over 860 cans and 290 boxes of finished milk products bearing the aforementioned labels, most of which had expired.

The seized items are high-end milk products that the police are currently investigating.

The police then took Mr. Phuoc to another house with no address in Hamlet 6B, Vinh Loc A Commune, Binh Chanh District for further inspection. At this "facility," the police seized more than 640 cans of finished milk products bearing the same labels as above, and a small number of others with unclear labels.

Working with the police, Mr. Phuoc confessed that in 2009 he established Phuoc Sinh Loc Company (headquartered in Tan Phu District) specializing in processing milk and dairy products. However, the company did not operate at its registered location but instead produced and stored milk in two unnumbered houses in Vinh Loc A commune, Binh Chanh district.

Mr. Phuoc stated that only the Pigo milk brand is registered as intellectual property. The other two brands, Gina Milk and Physogrow, have not yet been registered.

Notably, regardless of the brand name, Mr. Phuoc uses the same production formula: mixing powdered milk and Chinese artificial sweeteners with 2-3 spoonfuls of milk flavoring, then packaging and labeling the products himself. On average, the two facilities produce about 2 tons of milk per month.

Notably, these types of milk target consumers such as pregnant women, the elderly, children, and underweight individuals. The police suspect that the ingredients in these milk products do not match what is stated on the labels and in advertisements, and that they may have adverse effects on consumers' health.
