Historic heat wave in central Vietnam could end next week
(Baonghean.vn) - The Central region has been experiencing continuous heat since June 4, likely to end on July 2-3.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on June 29, the hot low zone will continue to be active, the North will experience widespread heat with the highest temperature commonly ranging from 36-39 degrees, especially in mountainous areas with heavy rain and strong thunderstorms. From Sunday, June 30, the temperature will gradually decrease (Hanoi 36 degrees Celsius) and end early next week. The Central region will experience continuous heat from June 4, likely ending on July 2-3.
The Central Highlands and the South are affected by the Southwest monsoon, so there are showers and thunderstorms. The highest temperature in the South is about 31-34, the Central Highlands 29-32.

Last weekend, the North also experienced heat waves with the highest temperature in Hanoi reaching 40 degrees. The next three days from June 23 to 25, thunderstorms cooled the weather. Meanwhile, the Central region has been experiencing continuous heat waves since June 4, with the highest temperature reaching 43 degrees Celsius on June 22.
Forest fires have occurred in many provinces such as Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Phu Yen, and Thua Thien Hue. Many residential areas lack water for daily use, and people's lives have been disrupted.
Yesterday was the third day of a widespread heat wave in the North. The focus was on Hoa Binh and the delta region, with temperatures reaching 39-40 degrees Celsius at 1 p.m. By 4 p.m., five measuring stations recorded temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius: Hoa Binh City (Hoa Binh); Lang, Ba Vi, Ha Dong (Hanoi); Hung Yen; Nho Quan (Ninh Binh).
The Central region from Thanh Hoa to Khanh Hoa is also experiencing intense heat, with temperatures at 4 p.m. generally ranging from 37-39 degrees Celsius, some places over 40 degrees Celsius, such as: Tinh Gia, Nhu Xuan (Thanh Hoa); Quy Hop, Quy Chau, Tay Hieu (Nghe An). This is the temperature measured in a covered meteorological tent, the actual temperature outside is 2-4 degrees Celsius higher.
