Iran team receives special instructions before match against Vietnam team
The President of the Iranian Football Federation has just given a special directive to the national team before the match against Vietnam at the 2019 Asian Cup.
Mr. Abdul Khaleq Massoud, President of the Iran Football Federation, expressed his hope that coach Carlos Queiroz and his team will play better against Vietnam than they did against Yemen.
“The first match always has difficulties due to the preparation process. But I believe Iran will play better in the next match against Vietnam. The players need to do well in this,” Abdul Khaleq Massoud told Tasnim News.

In the opening match, Iran crushed Yemen with a score of 5-0. This was also the most lopsided result of the first round of matches at the 2019 Asian Cup. Meanwhile, Vietnam lost 2-3 to Iraq despite taking the lead twice. This was considered the most exciting match of the first round.
Vietnam will meet Iran on January 12 at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi at 6:00 p.m. (Vietnam time).Although highly rated, Iran coach Carlos Queiroz is not complacent.
“I know the Vietnam team is a good team. I have a close friend who was a coach of this team a few years ago.Vietnam is a dangerous opponent with a fast counter-attacking style of play because they have fast players and a solid, well-organized defense. Iran will have to attack Vietnam with great caution," said coach Carlos Queiroz.
The friend that Mr. Carlos Queiroz mentioned in the Vietnam team is coach Henrique Calisto. Both coaches were born in 1953 and had a lot of coaching experience in Portugal, before going abroad.
