(Baonghean)This morning, January 31st (the 9th day of the Lunar New Year), the Ministry of Transport, Project Management Board 85, and Construction Corporation No. 4 (Cienco4) held a ceremony to launch the construction of the Ben Thuy 2 Bridge project for the Spring of the Year of the Dragon 2012.

Attending the ceremony were Comrade Truong Tan Vien - Deputy Minister of Transport and the Ministry's delegation, and comrades: Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province; and Nguyen Nhat - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province.

According to reports from Project Management Board 85 and General Construction Corporation No. 4: The Ben Thuy 2 Bridge Project commenced on March 14, 2010, comprising 7 construction packages, focusing on key companies of General Construction Corporation No. 4, a strong unit in the transportation sector, and several other contractors. Despite general difficulties in finance, land clearance, harsh weather, storms, and complex geological conditions, Project Management Board 85 and the supervising consultants, especially the contractors, have leveraged their internal resources to ensure progress, achieving over 70% land clearance, and completing work worth over 538 billion VND out of a total construction contract value of 824.8 billion VND, reaching nearly 70%; the production of Super T girders, girder installation, and road embankment excavation at both ends of the bridge have reached between 30% and 60% of the plan. The project management board and contractors are striving to complete the Ben Thuy 2 Bridge by the anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday on May 19, 2012, and open it to traffic by the end of June 2012, ensuring high quality and safety.


On behalf of the leaders of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, Vice Chairman Huynh Thanh Dien expressed gratitude for the attention of the Party, Government, and Ministry of Transport in deciding to build Ben Thuy 2 Bridge to alleviate congestion on Ben Thuy 1 Bridge and contribute to increasing traffic capacity on National Highway 1A. At the same time, the two provinces will create favorable conditions for contractors to ensure the construction proceeds on schedule.

On behalf of the Ministry of Transport's leadership, Deputy Minister Truong Tan Vien acknowledged the attention of the leaders of the two provinces, the efforts of Project Management Board 85, and the contractors involved in the key Ben Thuy 2 Bridge project. He noted that units under the Ministry should strive to achieve high-quality results in transport infrastructure projects, in line with the Government's restructuring policy for the transport sector in 2012 and subsequent years.

After witnessing the signing ceremony with local leaders, the Project Management Board and contractors pledged to ensure the construction of Ben Thuy 2 Bridge proceeds on schedule. The Deputy Minister of Transport then presented gifts and encouraged the contractors to start production effectively and with high quality in the spring of 2012.

Earlier, Deputy Minister Truong Tan Vien visited and extended New Year greetings to the staff and employees of the Construction Corporation No. 4. He expressed his hope that the unit would continue to build upon its achievements as a strong unit in the industry, participating in the construction of Ben Thuy 2 Bridge and other projects nationwide, ensuring progress and quality.



Workers from CT473-Cienco4 participated in the construction of bridge pier 16.



Staff and employees of the General Construction and Transportation Projects Corporation No. 4 were delighted to receive orders from the Deputy Minister of Transport.
