Vinh urban development project will be completed by the end of 2017
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of June 14, a working group of the World Bank (WB) led by Ms. Phan Thi Phuong Huyen - Urban expert, head of the working group, had a working session with the Vinh City People's Committee on the Vinh urban development project.
The Vinh Urban Development Project, funded by the World Bank, includes four components: Improving services and upgrading basic infrastructure; improving environmental sanitation; building urban bridges and roads; and enhancing technical infrastructure capacity.
The total investment of the project is 152.922 million USD, equivalent to 3,180 billion VND, of which the loan capital from the World Bank is 98 million USD, and Vietnam's counterpart capital is 54.922 million USD.

The project is expected to be completed on December 30, 2017. Up to now, the total capital disbursed from the World Bank loan is 37,006 million USD, reaching 43% of the total project capital; the project implementation time is 70%; the counterpart fund has provided 723/938 billion VND. The project has completed the selection of contractors and signed contracts for 8 consulting packages and 16 construction packages.
Currently, some packages have been completed such as: Construction of resettlement area in hamlet 5, Nghi Phu commune; improvement of school sanitation; project to upgrade and renovate Bac Canal. For the remaining 10/11 construction packages, due to some difficulties and problems in site clearance, the construction progress is still slow compared to the assigned plan.

At the meeting, after reviewing the implementation progress, disbursement status, counterpart funds, and project indicators, the World Bank representative requested the Vinh City People's Committee and departments, offices, and authorities of wards and communes with projects to speed up the site clearance progress to hand over clean land to the construction unit, and must complete site clearance work in all bid packages by July 30 at the latest.
Discussing with the working group, Mr. Ha Thanh Tinh - Vice Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee agreed with the opinions and recommendations of the expert group. For projects that are behind schedule, the city commits to completing the site clearance work as soon as possible to hand over to the construction unit.
