Commenting on technology trends in 2024, Mr. Gene Alvarez, Senior Vice President at technology research and consulting firm Gartner (USA) said: "The top strategic technology trends this year focus on three important areas: the increase in requirements and risks related to artificial intelligence (AI), the development of new boundaries in the field of computing, and increasingly close cooperation between humans and machines".
These trends not only shape the future of technology, but also present opportunities for tech leaders to drive innovation responsibly, he stressed.
At the same time, he noted that the application of these trends needs to ensure transparency and ethics, thereby contributing to building trust and sustainable values in the process of technology development and deployment.

Gartner has identified 10 key technology trends that it predicts will play a central role in unlocking potential opportunities for information technology (IT) leaders in the coming year.
These trends not only reflect the rapid evolution of technology, but also represent profound changes in the way organizations apply technology to innovate, improve efficiency and maintain competitive advantage.
1. AI Agent
Agent AI are software programs designed to operate independently, make decisions and take actions to achieve specific goals set by humans.
These systems integrate advanced AI capabilities with elements such as memory, planning, environmental sensing, safety guidance, and many other inputs, allowing them to complete tasks autonomously, thereby improving productivity and optimizing operational efficiency.
Gartner predicts that by 2028, at least 15% of daily work decisions will be made automatically by AI agents, a significant jump from 0% in 2024.
2. AI governance platforms
AI governance platforms are advanced technology solutions designed to ensure that AI models and systems operate in a trustworthy, transparent, fair, and accountable manner.
These platforms not only help organizations meet safety and ethical standards, but also contribute to building strong trust from customers and communities.
According to Gartner's forecast, by 2028, businesses that adopt AI governance platforms will achieve 30% higher customer trust and 25% better regulatory compliance scores than their non-adopting competitors.

Key applications of an AI governance platform include assessing potential risks and impacts, ensuring that controls are maintained throughout the lifecycle of an AI model, and flexibly adapting governance standards to accommodate technological developments and the regulatory landscape.
This is key for organizations to fully leverage the potential of AI while remaining socially responsible and regulatory compliant.
3. Security against misinformation
As generative AI becomes more widespread and sophisticated, the risk of this technology being misused for negative purposes also increases, including spreading misinformation or malicious intent to attack businesses.
Anti-disinformation security technology has emerged to protect organizations and individuals from these threats, by preventing and countering the spread of misinformation on online platforms.
Gartner predicts that within the next four years, half of businesses will deploy products, services, or integrate special features to address disinformation security, up from less than 5% today.
This reflects the growing importance of building a secure and trustworthy information environment in today's complex digital landscape.
4. Post-quantum cryptography
Gartner warns that advances in quantum computing will render many traditional cryptography insecure by 2029. This will create an urgent need for post-quantum cryptography systems, which can protect data not only against quantum computers but also against classical computers.
While the exact timing of when quantum computing will truly enter a new era remains unclear, organizations like the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) have emphasized that businesses and organizations need to proactively prepare their security systems to deal with these revolutionary changes in the near future.
5. Invisible intelligence in the surrounding environment
Ambient invisible intelligence refers to the seamless integration of sensor technologies into everyday living environments, operating automatically without user intervention.

This development will be driven by the use of low-cost sensors that enable flexible and cost-effective monitoring. According to Gartner, by 2027, the first applications of this new technology will focus on solving logistics problems such as real-time retail inventory checks and perishable goods management, providing superior efficiency and flexible scalability.
6. Energy-saving computers
The explosive growth of AI has highlighted concerns about the enormous amount of energy and computing power required to run AI systems. In fact, tasks such as AI training, media optimization and rendering, among many other applications, can be among the major contributors to many organizations’ significant carbon emissions.
Gartner predicts that by the end of this decade, advanced computing technologies, such as neuromorphic accelerators and novel methods, will emerge and support AI and optimization tasks while consuming much less energy, opening up new opportunities to reduce the environmental impact of high-tech systems.
7. Hybrid computing
As computing models continue to evolve, the storage, compute, and networking solutions needed to support them will continue to evolve. Gartner describes hybrid computing as a sophisticated combination of these mechanisms, aimed at solving computing challenges and extending the application of advanced technologies such as AI beyond current limitations.
Gartner predicts that these hybrid computing architectures will create more efficient and powerful innovation environments that outperform traditional mechanisms, opening up new possibilities for optimizing and enhancing technology performance.
8. Spatial computing
Spatial computing refers to the enhancement of the physical world through digital technologies such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), to create deeper levels of interaction between real and virtual spaces.
These technologies are gaining traction in the gaming industry, particularly with systems like Meta's Oculus virtual reality headset, and in online retail, where companies like IKEA and Nike are bringing AR experiences to consumers.
Gartner predicts that by 2033, the space computing market will grow dramatically, increasing 10 times its current size, from $110 billion to $1.7 trillion.
9. Multi-function robot
With the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, these multi-purpose machines will replace traditional robots designed to perform only one repetitive task, according to Gartner.

Not only are these machines highly efficient, they are also designed to work alongside and assist humans, opening up new opportunities in manufacturing and facilitating human-machine interactions.
In fact, Gartner predicts that by 2030, 80% of people will interact with intelligent robots on a daily basis, a sharp increase from just 10% today.
10. Strengthens nerves
Neurological enhancement refers to the use of technologies to read and decode brain activity, in order to improve a person's ability to perform cognitive tasks. This is done through the use of unidirectional brain-machine interfaces or bidirectional brain-machine interfaces (BBMI).
Gartner points out that these technologies have particular potential to enhance human skills, drive next-generation marketing and improve job performance.
It is predicted that by 2030, 30% of the knowledge workforce will depend on these innovations to increase productivity, optimize work and stay competitive as AI becomes increasingly prevalent in the workplace.
