The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that in the evening and night of August 5, the Northwest and Viet Bac regions will have showers and thunderstorms. The expected rainfall is from 15-30mm, with some areas reaching over 90mm.
The Central Highlands and the South will also witness showers and thunderstorms this evening and tonight, with estimated rainfall ranging from 10-30mm, some places may reach over 70mm.
During the next 24-48 hours, the Northern Delta region along with southern Son La and Hoa Binh will experience a heat wave, with the highest temperature commonly ranging from 35-36 degrees Celsius, and some places may be higher than 36 degrees Celsius.
The area from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen is experiencing a heat wave, with the highest temperature regularly at 35-37 degrees Celsius, even exceeding 37 degrees Celsius in some places.
The heat wave also affects southern Son La and Hoa Binh, as well as the Northern Delta and Central regions, and is expected to last for the next few days.
On the night of August 5 and all day of August 6, the central and southern areas of the East Sea, including the waters of the Truong Sa archipelago, from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, from Ca Mau to Kien Giang and the Gulf of Thailand, will have showers and thunderstorms. The thunderstorms may be accompanied by tornadoes and strong gusts of wind up to level 7-8.
The sea area from Khanh Hoa to Binh Thuan will be affected by strong southwest winds of level 5, sometimes increasing to level 6, gusting to level 7, with waves 2-3m high and rough seas.
