Foreign tourists experience 'fatty meat, pickled onions, red parallel sentences'
(Baonghean.vn) - Listening to folk songs, writing calligraphy, watching lion dances, cooking banh chung... are interesting experiences for foreign tourists in Nghe An as the New Year approaches.
On the evening of the 28th of Tet, upon arriving in Vinh City, the Thai delegation from Uponratthani province was surprised to be welcomed by a special lion dance and given flowers and lucky money by the leaders of the provincial tourism promotion center. This was also one of the first international delegations to celebrate the traditional New Year in Nghe An.
Witnessing the warm and welcoming atmosphere, Mr. Somsak excitedly said: I am very happy to come to Vietnam during the traditional Tet holiday. Vietnamese Tet is very different from Tet in Thailand, especially in the cold weather like these days. Vietnamese people celebrate Tet very enthusiastically and happily...

More than half a world away from Vietnam, a group of tourists from the Netherlands also had a wonderful experience when attending a Vietnamese Tet program organized by Nghe An Department of Tourism at Kim Lien Hotel. The impression was that although it was only held in a very small space, they were able to fully experience the most unique customs of Vietnamese Tet. One of the most interesting points was watching the hotel chef wrap Chung cake and enjoying the flavor of the national cake.
Emma, a very young member of the group, happily said after wrapping a banh chung herself: It was much more difficult than I imagined. However, I really enjoyed it and this was my most memorable memory of this trip.

Along with making banh chung, in the Vietnamese Tet experience program, foreign visitors also got to see the art of calligraphy and give calligraphy at the beginning of the new year. Also here, visitors were introduced to the Vietnamese custom of asking for and giving calligraphy. This is not only a cultural beauty but also a testament to the tradition of studiousness and respect for words of the Vietnamese people.
As one of the lucky people who received the Happiness message, Mr. Janatham happily shared: New Year in your country has many good traditions. I also wish everyone a new year full of joy and happiness.
