Chinese tourists to Vietnam are at an unprecedented high

According to the General Statistics Office, Chinese visitors to Vietnam in 2016 reached 2.7 million, double the number in 2012 and one and a half times last year.

According to the statistics agency, in 2016, international visitors to Vietnam were estimated to reach 10.01 million, an increase of more than 2 million visitors, equivalent to 26% compared to the previous year. The General Statistics Office also stated that this was the first time Vietnam welcomed over 10 million international visitors, double the number in 2010.

In 2016, visitors to our country from Asia reached 7.26 million, accounting for 72.5% and increasing by 30.6% compared to the previous year. Of which, visitors from China alone reached a new record of nearly 2.7 million, an increase of more than 51%. In previous years, although Chinese tourists to Vietnam always accounted for the highest proportion, they never exceeded 2 million. In 2015, the number of visitors from this country decreased compared to the previous 2 years, however, in 2016, it increased sharply and set a new record.

Visitors from the Korean market in 2016 also achieved good growth with 1.5 million arrivals, an increase of 39% compared to 2014.The number of customers from all continents increased, but the fluctuation was only about 5-20%.

According to the statistics agency, this is the result of policies and efforts to attract tourists such as visa exemption for citizens of 5 Western European countries, strengthening tourism promotion, applying e-marketing technology, implementing tourism promotion programs on television, media, and mass media...
