In the early days of 2026, Cua Lo welcomed refreshing breezes, with joy following joy. The Mai Bang Temple Festival was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage (Decision No. 23, dated January 6, 2026). This is not only a tribute to a folk festival, but also affirms the cultural depth in the development journey of Cua Lo coastal city.
The joy was amplified when, at the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF 2026) held in Cebu City (Philippines) at the end of January 2026, Cua Lo was honored by ASEAN as the “ASEAN Clean Tourism City of 2026”. This title is not only a regional recognition but also an important “passport,” helping Cua Lo confidently assert its position and expand its development space on the Southeast Asian tourism map.
Visiting Cua Lo today reveals a new face: a more spacious, orderly, and vibrant urban area. Confidence is spreading among officials, Party members, and the people as the first Party Congress of Cua Lo Ward, for the 2025-2030 term, has determined: To build Cua Lo into a "green, clean, beautiful, prosperous, and civilized" coastal city.

Comrade Phung Duc Nhan - Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Lo Ward, said: This goal is being concretized through decisive policies and implementation from the Party Committee and the government, with the spirit of resolving obstacles wherever they arise. From systematically planning clusters of green trees, both to act as wave and wind barriers and to create a distinctive ecological landscape, to advising the province to organize the Spring Tree Planting Festival in Cua Lo in the Year of the Horse, linked with social mobilization. It is expected that more than 1,000 mature coconut trees will be planted in the early days of Spring, forming a "new row of coconut trees" for the future of coastal tourism. At the same time, the green tree system along the roads, especially the Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard, is being completed, so that each road to the beach becomes closer to nature and more friendly to tourists.
On Cua Lo beach, the last remaining kiosks have been removed. The beach has been neatly leveled, creating a truly public space where tourists can leisurely stroll and enjoy the tranquil sea view. Urban beautification and waste management are being implemented comprehensively. Cua Lo is currently investing in the construction of five water-locking sluice gates, forming a closed-loop system to ensure absolutely no wastewater leaks into the marine environment, so that the title of "clean tourist city" becomes a sustainable and long-lasting value.
Cua Lo is also investing in urban beautification by planning and supplementing lighting systems, decorative lights, and LED signs; it is urgently preparing to build 15 modern shower facilities, each capable of serving 50-100 customers at a time; and it is building check-in points associated with upgrading destinations such as VinWonders Cua Hoi, Lan Chau Island, Hon Ngu Island, Cua Hoi ecological area, along the Cam River estuary, and along the Lam River estuary…
In particular, Cua Lo will develop Nghi Thuy fishing village into an experiential tourism destination – where tourists can join fishermen in catching and processing seafood. In this way, tourism will not just be a service, but will become a story of local life, deeply imbued with the "spirit" of the local culture.
Cửa Lò cũng đang quyết tâm làm mới cả tư duy và cách làm du lịch. Hệ thống cơ sở lưu trú, lữ hành, cơ sở làm du lịch được rà soát, sắp xếp lại. Cấp ủy, chính quyền chủ động gặp gỡ, đồng hành với doanh nghiệp để thống nhất mục tiêu phát triển du lịch 4 mùa. Từ tắm biển mùa Hè, Cửa Lò mở rộng sang du lịch trải nghiệm cảnh quan sinh thái, đời sống văn hóa tâm linh thông qua các Lễ hội Đền Mai Bảng, đền Vạn Lộc, đền Yên Lương, đền Bàu Lối, đền Làng Hiếu; chùa đảo Ngư, chùa Lô Sơn…, để mỗi mùa đều có điểm đến, mỗi lần trở lại đều có cảm xúc mới. Cửa Lò cũng tích cực mở rộng kết nối, thu hút đầu tư du lịch, đô thị, thương mại và các sự kiện văn hóa - thể thao tầm quốc gia, quốc tế. Đi cùng quyết tâm ấy là cam kết nâng chất lượng dịch vụ, ứng xử văn minh, công khai minh bạch giá cả, nói không với “chặt chém”, để niềm tin của du khách được bồi đắp bền lâu.
Sự quyết liệt của cấp ủy, chính quyền đã tạo hiệu ứng lan tỏa trong cộng đồng doanh nghiệp. Ông Nguyễn Văn Vỹ - Tổng Quản lý VinWonders Cửa Hội phấn khởi chia sẻ: “Biển sạch hơn, bờ biển thoáng hơn, trật tự đô thị được lập lại, đó là những tín hiệu rất rõ để doanh nghiệp thêm niềm tin. Khi chính quyền vào cuộc tích cực, doanh nghiệp cũng sẵn sàng nâng chất lượng dịch vụ, giữ uy tín cho điểm đến”.
Người dân cũng cảm nhận rõ cơ hội của mình. Bà Nguyễn Thị Hà - một người dân ở khối Nghi Thu 1 bộc bạch mộc mạc: “Khách đến đông, ở lâu và quanh năm 4 mùa thì chúng tôi có thêm sinh kế, thu nhập ổn định. Người dân sẵn sàng đồng hành với chính quyền giữ gìn hình ảnh Cửa Lò văn minh, thân thiện”.
Vận hội của du lịch Cửa Lò không chỉ đến từ nỗ lực nội tại, mà còn từ bối cảnh phát triển chung của quê hương, đất nước. An ninh - chính trị ổn định, trên địa bàn tỉnh Nghệ An đang hiện hữu nhiều doanh nghiệp, khu công nghiệp lớn với hàng nghìn chuyên gia, lao động nước ngoài sinh sống. Cảng Hàng không quốc tế Vinh vừa được nâng cấp, tuyến đường bộ cao tốc Bắc - Nam đưa vào vận hành; các công trình: đường bộ cao tốc Vinh - Thanh Thủy, nối nước bạn Lào, đường sắt tốc độ cao Bắc - Nam, Cảng nước sâu Cửa Lò…, đang khởi động triển khai, cùng với Trung tâm Hành chính tỉnh Nghệ An sẽ được dịch chuyển về phía Đông gần với Cửa Lò. Tất cả tạo nên một không gian kết nối rộng mở, gia tăng mạnh mẽ dòng khách và cơ hội đầu tư du lịch ở Cửa Lò.
