According to the indictment, in 2012, Lo Thi Kim went to China and married a man there. While living in China, Kim met a man named Khai (specific identity not determined). Khai asked Kim to find Vietnamese women to go to China to sell to men there as wives.
Kim called Lo Thi T. (born 2000, Kim's niece) and invited T. to go to China to get married. Kim told T. that marrying a Chinese man would give her a happy life and she wouldn't have to do anything.
Kim agreed with Khai to sell T. for 135 million VND, of which T.'s family would receive 100 million.
On March 11, 2017, Kim picked up Lo Thi T. and went to Mong Cai (Quang Ninh) to cross the border into China. That same evening, when the passenger bus carrying Kim and T. arrived at Quynh Luu district, Nghe An, it was discovered and arrested by the provincial authorities.
Considering the defendant is an ethnic minority, has limited legal awareness, confessed honestly, has a good personal history, and the victim has submitted a petition for a reduced sentence... the panel sentenced Lo Thi Kim to 3 years in prison./.
