In Dien An commune, this spring, farmers have converted 6 hectares of peanuts to Japanese cucumbers. This is the first time planting this new variety, so farmers are provided with seeds; pesticides, poles for trellises; technical guidance and supervision, and products are purchased after harvest.

Just 30 days after planting, the melons begin to bear fruit, and the harvest time can last from 1.5 to 2 months. Unlike local cucumbers, the Japanese melon variety produces fruit 35 to 50cm long, with a dense flesh and almost no seeds; each fruit can weigh up to more than 400g.

Through successful practice, it shows that melons can be grown in winter and spring.
