Bringing Vinh University's physics research to the world
(Baonghean) - With the participation of many leading physicists from Vietnam and the world, the International Conference on “Nonlinear Optics and New Materials” co-organized by Vinh University and Warsaw University (Poland) is expected to bring many new prospects in the field of scientific cooperation and application of research works into practice...
Professor, Doctor Cao Long Van from the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Zielona Góra, Poland, has not forgotten the memory of more than 25 years ago. At that time, on a chance visit to Vinh University, he was very troubled when he saw that the university, although 30 years old and located in a land of talented people, the "land of learning" of the Central region, had extremely poor and inadequate facilities.
Before returning to Poland, in Hanoi, he wrote a passionate article “advising” on future directions for Vinh University, especially in the investment in building facilities and developing human resources. A short time later, he was the one who acted as a “bridge” to help dozens of schools study and do research in Poland. Those who participated in the first class of research students later became successful and are currently holding important, leading positions at Vinh University.

Also from this relationship, Vinh University has increasingly cooperated closely with universities in Poland, especially in the field of Physics. In 2009, Vinh University and Warsaw University organized the first conference on Physics. The second time, in 2015, the conference had the presence of more than 100 scientists, doctors, professors, including more than 20 scientists from prestigious universities in Poland, Israel, Canada. This shows that Nonlinear Optics and New Materials are a scientific field of great interest.

At this year's conference, most of the delegates brought their latest research works focusing on issues of quantum computers, ultra-high resolution spectrum, quantum interference... Among them, there are works that have been published in Nature Magazine - one of the most prestigious magazines in the world in the fields of science, typically the works "Research on matter wave mixing", "Research to explore physical phenomena at absolute zero temperature" by Professor, Dr. Boris A. Malomed from Tel Aviv University, Israel...
In addition, the delegates also spent a lot of time introducing the Physics works that have won the Nobel Prize in Physics since 2001, such as quantum computers, electronic transparent media, advanced photonic technology based on electronically induced transparent media, matter wave optics, etc. All presentations and reports were in English (without interpretation), showing that the conference is being organized professionally in the form of an international conference.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Huy Bang (Head of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, Vinh University) shared: “Attending this conference is a good opportunity for us to learn and share experiences. Being exposed to scientific working methods and new, advanced research directions in the world…”. As for Dr. Nguyen Huy Bang personally, the work “Research on the application of environments at absolute zero temperature to advanced photonic devices” is also a carefully invested work with more than 4 years of research. The work has been published in 5 American and German journals, and will be presented at the Conference on Natural Science for Southeast Asian Countries in Thailand this December.

Physics and scientific research have also been a strength of Vinh University for many years and are one of the fields that can reach the world. Associate Professor, Dr. Dinh Xuan Khoa, Principal of the school said: “The 15 research projects of Vinh University reported at this conference were all researched and experimented at the school. The school hopes that after this conference, bilateral cooperation on scientific research between Vinh University and Warsaw University will also be signed:
At this conference, in addition to the participation of universities, a number of energy-related organizations also attended. All of them considered this an opportunity to find highly applicable projects to build and develop in practice. Above all, the most meaningful thing that this conference brings is to help Vietnamese students and trainees access modern advanced technologies. This is the third time Professor, Dr. Marek Tripenbach from Warsaw University has always brought a lot of experimental equipment. This time, he and his colleagues also created conditions to build a Physics laboratory worth more than 1 million USD, helping Vinh University students have the opportunity to practice in a laboratory that meets international standards.

“As educators, our mission is to teach and create new knowledge. We are very happy to be able to bring our passion, knowledge and the most practical things to support and help Nghe An students, step by step helping Nghe An students develop and have more achievements in research and scientific works” - Professor Tripenbach confided.
