(Baonghean.vn) -The 335th Regiment, a key unit in training and combat readiness, is stationed in western Nghe An province, nestled beside the picturesque Giang Man mountain range. Every Lunar New Year, the Regiment's Youth Union organizes a festival featuring competitions in making banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), arranging flowers, and decorating the five-fruit tray for the New Year, attracting thousands of officers and soldiers. This activity has become a beautiful cultural tradition deeply rooted in military tradition for many years!

The competition involved nine teams, comprising the combined youth union branches of three battalions and six company-level youth union branches. As the competition began, the hands, weathered by daily gunfire and bullets, their skin tanned by the sun and wind, transformed into a unified display of skill. Their nimble, coordinated movements created perfect square rice cakes. After folding the banana leaves, placing them in the mold, adding the glutinous rice and filling, pressing them firmly, and tying them with string, the cakes were completed in just moments. The first part of the competition concluded with the rice cakes being presented to the judges for evaluation.

The second part of the competition was "decorating the five-fruit tray," where skillful hands, meticulous attention to detail, and brilliant creativity transformed pomelos, apples, and bunches of grapes into elaborate trays full of the flavors of Tet (Vietnamese New Year). Finally, the most anticipated part was the artistic flower arrangement competition. After the flower arrangements were completed, each team sent a member to explain the theme. This year's themes mainly focused on mothers, the country's renewal, and the soldiers of Uncle Ho's army.

At the end of the competition, the first prize for wrapping banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) and artistic flower arranging went to the 5th Inter-branch Union, the 4th Inter-branch Union team won first prize for decorating the five-fruit tray, and the 17th Engineering Company came second for artistic flower arranging.
