Germany says most of its military will transfer under NATO command by 2025
(Baonghean.vn) - German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that the majority of the German army will be transferred and placed under NATO command. At the same time, Germany always pays special attention to protecting allies on the eastern flank of the alliance.

TASS news agency reported on May 10 that German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that most of the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) will be transferred under NATO command by 2025. About 35,000 of those soldiers will always be at the highest state of readiness.
"The security of our allies is our security. Therefore, next year, most of the Bundeswehr will be placed under NATO command, and about 35,000 of them will be at the highest state of readiness," German Defense Minister Pistorius shared at Johns Hopkins University (USA).
Minister Pistorius said Germany's particular focus remains on protecting allies on NATO's eastern flank, from the High North to the Balkans, from the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean.
Mr. Pistorius emphasized that Berlin is devoting significant resources to ensuring security for its allies and NATO in general.
The German Defense Minister added that the country is strengthening its military presence on NATO's eastern flank. In this regard, Mr. Pistorius recalled the permanent deployment of a German Armed Forces brigade in Lithuania.
"This is an unprecedented case in German history," said Minister Pistorius.
Together with its allies, Berlin is sending a clear signal to Russian President Vladimir Putin that "if any Russian soldier sets foot on allied territory, we will defend every inch of that territory," Germany's defense chief said.
Earlier, on May 6, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, during his visit to Lithuania, said that about 35,000 German soldiers are ready to support allies in case of emergency. Chancellor Scholz emphasized that the Bundeswehr will focus on protecting Northeast and Central Europe./.
