Germany calls on Russia to act responsibly in explaining MH17 incident
On May 25, Ms. Martina Fietz - Deputy Spokesperson of the German Government called on Russia to act responsibly and support the investigation into the crash of Malaysian plane MH17 in 2014.
On May 24, investigators from the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), including representatives from the Netherlands, Australia, Malaysia, Belgium and Ukraine, determined that the missile that shot down MH17 belonged to the Russian military.
According to Ms. Fietz, the German government regrets that the JIT has not yet received a satisfactory response from Moscow to its request for legal assistance. Ms. Fietz also welcomed the publication of the legal proceedings brought by the Netherlands and Australia.
Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry has denied the allegations from the investigation team, saying that the allegations are baseless and the JIT's investigation is biased and one-sided.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also noted that Russia is not allowed to investigate the MH17 crash in eastern Ukraine, so Moscow can only confirm the JIT's results if it participates in the investigation./.
