Germany calls for immediate resumption of Nord Stream 2 project
(Baonghean.vn) - Speaking to German media on August 19, Vice President of the German Parliament, Mr. Wolfgang Kubicki (of the Free Democratic Party - FDP), said that the German Government should put the Nord Stream 2 project, which supplies gas directly from Russia to Germany, into operation.

“We should restart the Nord Stream 2 pipeline as soon as possible to fill our gas storage facilities for the coming winter... There is no good reason not to restart this project,” Mr Kubicki said.
According to the Vice President of the German Parliament, after reopening the pipeline, if Russia supplies more gas, it will help both the German people and industry, benefiting Germany more than Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Mr Kubicki also suggested that once the gas tanks were filled, Germany could again shut down the Nord Stream 2 pipeline – and other pipelines as well – once Germany became independent of Russian energy.
Due to the war in Ukraine, the German government decided to stop the approval process for the Nord Stream 2 project at the end of February.
