Germany asks NATO to dialogue with Russia

"In June, an invitation will be sent to the Russian side to participate in the next meeting of the Russia-NATO Council at the ambassadorial level," — according to the statement.

"As has been demonstrated, at the first meeting of the Russia-NATO Council on April 20, an atmosphere of dialogue was established, which, although not resolving issues, at least provided an exchange of views... which is necessary in relation to the NATO summit in Warsaw in seven weeks," - the German Foreign Ministry quoted Foreign Minister Steinmeier as saying.

Deutsche Welle broadcaster said on Friday that during dinner at the end of the first working day of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels, Mr. Steinmeier raised the need to explain to Russia the decisions expected to be adopted at the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw.
