Russian State Duma: US Senators' Statements on the Black Sea Are False Support for Ukraine

The US senators' push to deploy a US military presence in the Black Sea to "protect Ukraine" is a violation of military and political law, Adalbi Shkhagoshev, a member of the State Duma's Security and Anti-Corruption Committee, told Sputnik.

Earlier, Sputnik wrote that two US congressmen from the Republican Party, Mike Rogers and Mike Turner, called on President Joe Biden to "deploy the US military presence in the Black Sea" to protect Ukraine, as well as provide military support to Kiev.

"This is an invocation that corresponds to a violation of political and military law. Fortunately, it is the US senators who call for this, and not the US's fixed position. Knowing how we react to potential decisions from the Russian side, the US is not capable of doing such things," Shkhagoshev said.

The politician assessed the appeals of the US senators as just political rhetoric. In the opinion of the Russian parliamentarian, the United States will have to be "quite careful in this regard", because such statements are harmful to Ukraine.

"Recently, the most serious threat to Ukraine is precisely such deceitful support, which is generously provided with statements and appeals," the Russian State Duma deputy concluded.
