'Don't piss off the Russian bear'
Doctor of Political Science Kirill Koktysh - Moscow State University of International Relations (MGIMO) - commented on Sputnik radio on the record turnout of Russian voters in the presidential election.
Professor of the Department of Political Theory at MGIMO, Doctor of Political Science Kirill Koktysh commented to Sputnik that the very high voter turnout shows that the West's attempts to put pressure on Russians have had the opposite effect.
“The West plays a lobbying role here – Western attempts to sabotage our elections and intimidate the Russians have led to a completely opposite reaction. Because putting pressure on the Russians, on Russian citizens, is an absolutely pointless path.”
Central Election Commission Deputy Chairman Nikolai Bulaev said the total voter turnout in the Russian presidential election reached a record 74.22%.
According to data from the Central Election Commission, Vladimir Putin is winning 87.33% of the votes in the Russian presidential election after processing 99.01% of the protocols.
Kirill Koktysh commented, recalling what the first Chancellor of the German Empire, Bismarck, had said long ago and now comes true: “I know more than a hundred ways to force a bear out of its den, but I don’t know a single way to drive it back. Don’t provoke the Russian bear.” But here it turns out they did provoke it. And they got a response, when Russia will insist on fulfilling its demands, desires and interests regarding the global world order.
