Do not be subjective with atopic dermatitis (eczema) in children
(Baonghean.vn) - Atopic dermatitis is a common disease that causes discomfort for young children, but due to lack of knowledge or subjectivity, many parents have not yet detected and treated the disease early for their children; affecting the comprehensive development of children.
Milk flowing down the cheeks, rolling into the broken blisters, causing the baby to burn… is the heartbreaking image when baby D.C.Minh, 6 months old from Ha Tinh was recently admitted to Vinh International Hospital for treatment. For nearly a month, baby Minh has had to go through the uncomfortable feeling of having a red rash on his face, swelling, interspersed with cracks, ulcers and oozing a fishy smell on his normally smooth and soft facial skin.
The baby's mother said: "At first, the baby's face had red patches, then small blisters appeared on both cheeks and forehead. However, due to being subjective, the family bought medicine to apply and also took the baby to a few places for treatment, but the condition became more and more severe."
After receiving the baby with widespread and deep skin damage, doctors from the Department of Pediatrics and Dermatology, Vinh International Hospital examined and consulted, concluding that the baby had infected atopic dermatitis (infected eczema); at the same time, they agreed to provide an appropriate and effective treatment regimen.
The baby's skin condition improved every day and after just one week, the baby's facial skin had almost completely recovered.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Hanh - Department of Pediatrics said: "Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that progresses in stages, usually starting at the age of 2-3 months with the characteristics of itching and eczema-like lesions. The disease often appears in people with a personal or family history of diseases with allergic factors such as: Asthma, allergic rhinitis, pruritus, drug allergy, urticaria... People with sensitive skin, low resistance, and weak immune systems are susceptible to bacterial superinfection, which makes treatment difficult."
Dr. Nguyen Thi Huyen - Department of Dermatology added: "Atopic dermatitis is easily confused with allergic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, rash, chapped skin or prickly heat because the common symptoms of these diseases are itchy rash. However, allergic dermatitis, chapped skin or prickly heat will completely go away after a while, while atopic dermatitis continues to haunt children throughout their first years of life."
According to medical experts, there are many causes of atopic dermatitis, including genetic factors, environment, food, direct contact with insects; or it can originate from bath water, laundry detergent, fabric softener...
Common symptoms of atopic dermatitis are itchy, red rashes on the skin, which then spread around, causing itching and discomfort. Some children have blisters that ooze fluid and bleed after scratching. If not treated properly, it will spread throughout the body, causing the child to cry, have poor appetite, and develop poorly...
Atopic dermatitis is not a contagious disease, however, it is easy to relapse and cause discomfort, reducing the quality of life as well as the physical and mental development of children. Therefore, parents need to prevent the disease for their children by avoiding pathogens and need to detect early signs of abnormal skin and take the child to medical facilities for timely treatment, do not arbitrarily use drugs to treat the child, which can easily cause dangerous complications./.
