Hoi told Ms. L. that he was unhappy in his family life and was divorced. Trusting Hoi, Ms. L. fell deeper and deeper into his relationship with Hoi. But the hidden needle eventually came out. After a while, Ms. L. discovered that Hoi had not divorced his wife, so she took the initiative to end the relationship. Hoi did not agree and to put pressure on Ms. L.

On August 12, Hoi posted a clip of the two having sex on Youtube that Hoi had filmed earlier. Afterwards, Hoi called Ms. L. and demanded that she give him 20 million VND to remove the video. Afraid of losing her honor, Ms. L. called Hoi to come to Kim Dong district to give him the money, but Hoi refused and told Ms. L. to transfer the money to his account.

On October 23, 2015, when Ms. L. had not yet transferred the money as requested, Hoi created a Facebook account under the name "BN" and used Ms. L.'s photo as his profile picture, posting intimate photos of the two of them on this social networking site with the intention of forcing Ms. L. to send money.

Immediately after receiving Ms. L.’s report, Kim Dong District Police quickly investigated the case. However, Hoi quickly fled the area and continued working as a hired hand in the neighboring area.

Kim Dong District Police have issued a nationwide wanted notice for Vu Van Hoi. Using professional measures, on May 17, Kim Dong Police coordinated with the Criminal Investigation Department to arrest Vu Van Hoi at a motel in Binh Giang District, Hai Duong.
