Using a knife to slash a woman who had an affair with her husband

(Baonghean.vn) - Suspecting her husband of having an affair with another woman, Ms. Hoa used a knife to slash the woman's head, causing 15% injury.

On July 14, Nghe An Provincial People's Court continued the criminal trial, the appeal trial of defendant Nguyen Thi Hoa (29 years old, residing in Anh Son district) for the crime of intentionally causing injury.

Previously, on April 27, the People's Court of Anh Son District held a first-instance trial and sentenced Hoa to 24 months in prison for intentionally causing injury and ordered her to pay compensation of VND20 million to the victim, Ms. NTH. Hoa then appealed to the People's Court of Nghe An Province to review the entire first-instance judgment, while Ms. H. did not appeal.

According to the case file, on the afternoon of July 29, 2016, Hoa suspected her husband of having an affair with Ms. H, so she called to question and curse Ms. H.

Afterwards, Ms. H insisted that she had no illicit relationship with Hoa's husband and went to Hoa's house to explain. When they arrived, Hoa and Ms. H argued fiercely and insulted each other. Ms. H raised her hand to hit Hoa, but Hoa immediately grabbed the knife she had in the house and slashed Ms. H's head.

Ms. H was taken to Anh Son District General Hospital for emergency care, wound suturing, and treatment. According to the assessment results of Nghe An Province Forensic Center, Ms. H suffered 15% injury.

At the appeal hearing, Ms. H continued to assert that she did not have an affair with Hoa's husband because she was decades older than her husband. However, Hoa's husband suddenly confessed to the court that he had an illicit relationship with Ms. H but could not provide any evidence to prove it.

After a comprehensive review of the case, the panel sentenced Nguyen Thi Hoa to 15 months in prison, suspended, and 30 months of probation. At the same time, Hoa was forced to compensate Ms. H with more than 19 million VND./.
