Thao went into the yard, took a blunt knife from the porch and went inside the house. Seeing Trinh's two children (Nam 7 years old, Ngan 5 years old) playing on the bed, Thao used the knife to point at the two children and said "where did your parents' money go?", scaring the two children to tears and not being able to say anything. Thao continued to use the knife to hold the two children's necks, choking them, slapping them in the face and saying "where did your parents' money go? If you don't tell me, I'll kill you." Too scared, Nam pointed at the wardrobe.

Thao let go of the children and went to the wardrobe to look for money but couldn't find it. At this time, Ms. Trinh went home and opened the gate and saw her two children running out crying. Running into the door, she saw Thao in the house, holding a knife. Ms. Trinh immediately shouted for help, but Thao chased after her and slashed her left forearm, causing the skin to tear. Ms. Trinh continued to struggle and call for help, at this time, Ms. Nguyet, a neighbor, ran to help and called for help.

Panicked, Thao took a knife and ran along the stream to the wastewater area of the Royal Company, then threw the knife there. She continued to go to the front of the company and took another knife and went into the office. There, Thao met Ms. Huong and Mr. Du - a company employee, then pointed the knife and asked where the company owner was, but Mr. Du struggled and took the knife, so Thao ran to the back of the office area.

Thao saw Ms. Huong's motorbike parked there and searched the trunk, taking the leather wallet containing 1,075,000 VND, an ATM card and an ID card. Thao then climbed over the fence and escaped. At 5:30 p.m. the same day, the police investigation agency of Quy Hop district arrested Vi Van Thao.

At the investigation agency, Thao confessed to all of her acts of robbery. During the investigation, Ms. Trinh, the legal representative of her two children, and Mr. Du, the victim, both submitted a petition refusing an appraisal and did not request compensation or prosecute Thao for the act of "Intentionally causing injury". The amount of money that Thao stole from Ms. Huong was not enough to be prosecuted, so the investigation agency issued a decision to administratively sanction Vi Van Thao for the act of "Theft of property".

Based on the evidence, documents, and results of the debate at the trial, the panel sentenced defendant Vi Van Thao to 7 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "Robbery".
