Don't let officials be disciplined while people rejoice.
"Cadres are the pillars of society. If those pillars are rotten here and there, how can we not be sad?", said Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc.
In 2017, a series of officials were disciplined, a series of major cases were brought to trial. Former Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children Nguyen Viet Chuc said that its origin had existed for a long time, as a result of a period of lax management.
'Lifestyle of enjoyment causes many officials to lose moral character'
Ethics is always considered the “root” of the staff and civil servants for planning and appointment. However, there are people who are very good when they do not have power, but when they have power, they become corrupt. In your opinion, what causes this degradation?
The market economy makes society more dynamic. But in the transition period from a subsidized bureaucracy to a market economy, many people have not yet adapted, and are easily swayed by money, profit...

Therefore, do not understand people in the sense that if they are good today, they will always be good in the future. We must look at it dialectically. People can be good today, but not good tomorrow. Only then can we have measures to cultivate and train ourselves, and not degenerate.
The weapon of the Party is that each Party member and Party organization must struggle, criticize, and self-criticize, but for many years we have done it in a very formal way. We criticize ourselves but never find our own shortcomings.
In recent years, the Party has identified a significant number of cadres as having degraded morals and lifestyles. No cadre or civil servant likes to advise anyone, they just like to flatter and praise each other, praising each other indiscriminately, damaging social morality. Morality goes hand in hand with lifestyle, when morality degrades, so does the lifestyle of enjoyment.
Recently, many officials have failed to maintain their moral qualities and violated state economic regulations and have been punished. From an ethical perspective, how do you view this issue?
In today's society, many people do not value moral foundations and suffer from heartbreaking diseases. Over the past year, many officials have been disciplined.
The reason is that many cadres have strayed from morality and refuse to cultivate revolutionary morality and human morality. The Party has no other interests than the interests of the people, while many people always seek ways to turn public property into private property.
Eliminate the "bait" that tempts officials
According to him, is it because of loss of trust that people feel "gloating" when corrupt officials are disciplined?
People are upset because so many officials are corrupt. When officials are punished properly, people feel happy, that feeling is real. But in reality, most people do not feel happy, especially serious party members. Officials are the pillars of society, if those pillars are rotten here and there, how can we not be sad?
It is unfair to think that cadres are corrupt, but the reality is that they have the “conditions” to be corrupt. As for enlightened cadres, they are always vigilant and cultivate themselves.
The government must also remove all "bait" that tempts officials. Anyone who intentionally brings it up must be severely punished. It must create an environment and mechanism so that officials cannot be corrupt even if they want to be.
Whatever we do, we must listen to the people's feelings first and build a clean and strong Party. We cannot rest assured if cadres and party members are disciplined while the people are happy.
In 2018, how confident are you in the team of cadres and civil servants?
The cases that were handled in 2017 had their origins long ago. They were the result of a long period of lax management. However, we should not be discouraged. We must have faith in good things, look at problems with dialectics and not be afraid to look straight at the truth, speak frankly and act honestly to get good results.
In 2018, I hope that all cadres and party members, whoever has done good, will improve and reflect on themselves. Whoever has done wrong, will stop and be resolutely honest with themselves to correct their mistakes.
