Stop operating the ship accused of overcharging passengers in Ha Long
After being accused of overcharging for lunch by a customer, the Hong Long cruise ship was temporarily suspended for verification.
On the afternoon of May 18, the Quang Ninh Inland Waterways Port Authority temporarily suspended the operation of the Hong Long tourist ship (QN – 7038) to verify and clarify the incident after a group of tourists reported being ripped off while visiting the bay.
According to this group of guests, including 5 adults and 3 children, they booked the Hong Long ship to visit the bay on May 15. On the ship, the group ordered lunch and agreed on a price. However, when paying the bill, they were charged double, "even triple, such as the crab dish, which was more than 600,000 VND for a 300g crab". The total amount to be paid for the "premium fresh" meal with crab, grouper, shrimp... was more than 6 million VND. In addition, the group also had to pay 1.5 million VND for a 4-hour boat rental even though they only docked after more than 2 hours and did not stop at any caves because "the center called them back due to a storm".

However, Mr. Nguyen Hong Viet, director of Huyen Viet Company, owner of the QN-7038 ship, said that the meal for 8 guests was more than 4 million VND, not 6 million as reported. The total amount the group of guests paid for the ship was 6.8 million VND, including meals, ship rental and sightseeing tickets.
Currently, Ha Long City Police are coordinating with the Market Management Team, Quang Ninh Waterway Port Authority, Ha Long Bay Management Board and a number of other units to verify and clarify the incident. Ha Long City Tax Department also conducted a surprise inspection of Huyen Viet Private Enterprise's compliance with tax laws.
