Using fire to test old gasoline, 16 year old teenager brings disaster
After pouring gasoline into his motorbike but it wouldn't start, a teenager in Ha Tinh thought that the gasoline might have lost its effectiveness because it had been left for too long. He took a lighter and tried to light it.
- Accordingly, at around 8 pm on January 9, because his motorbike ran out of gas, Nguyen Thanh V. (16 years old, residing in residential group 2, Song Tri ward, Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh province), took a can of gasoline that he had bought a long time ago and kept at home to pour into the tank.
V. is being treated at the hospital.
After filling the tank, V. started the car but it did not start. Thinking that the gasoline might have been left for a long time and was no longer effective, V. took out the remaining gasoline in the can and used a lighter to test whether the gasoline would ignite. When V. lit the lighter, the gasoline quickly ignited and hit his face, causing severe burns.
Immediately afterwards, the family quickly took V. to the emergency room at Ky Anh District General Hospital.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Deputy Director of the hospital, said the victim suffered severe burns to his face and the most dangerous part was his eyes. As soon as the patient was admitted, the team of doctors on duty focused on first aid and care for the patient.
