University admissions suspended for over 200 programs.

These majors have had their enrollment suspended because they did not meet the requirements set by the Ministry of Education and Training.

On January 25th, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the results of its review of college and university-level training programs.

Accordingly, 207 undergraduate programs at 71 training institutions had to cease enrollment from 2014 due to not meeting the prescribed conditions.

For these institutions, the Ministry of Education and Training requires that by December 31, 2015 at the latest, if the reasons leading to the suspension of enrollment in the aforementioned majors are resolved, the training institutions must report to the Ministry for consideration of permission to resume enrollment.

Following that date, the Ministry of Education and Training will revoke the decision allowing training for those programs that have not yet rectified the reasons for suspension.

For students who have been admitted and are currently studying in the aforementioned fields, the training institution will continue to provide training in accordance with the current training regulations.

Certain disciplines that do not meet the stated conditions but fall under special categories will be handled separately. These include disciplines at training institutions in the Northwest, Central Highlands, and Southwest regions; disciplines in the foreign languages ​​and arts groups with five or more full-time lecturers holding master's degrees; and disciplines with a full-time faculty consisting of one PhD and two master's degrees, or one associate professor and one master's degree holder.

For the aforementioned fields, training institutions are temporarily allowed to continue enrolling students and organizing training according to the authority stipulated in the Training Regulations. At the same time, they must develop a plan to strengthen and supplement their full-time teaching staff, and when conditions are met, report to the Ministry of Education and Training no later than December 31, 2015, to officially commence training.

After December 31, 2015, programs that fail to submit reports or supplement their full-time faculty as required will have to cease enrollment and have their training program opening decisions revoked.

According to the survey results, 296 college-level programs at 74 higher education institutions do not meet the requirements for full-time faculty members.

For college-level programs, established by decision of the Ministry of Education and Training or as stipulated in Clause 2, Article 3 of Circular 08, that do not meet the conditions specified in Point a, Clause 1, Article 3 of Circular 08, the training institution may temporarily continue to enroll students and organize training according to the authority stipulated in the Training Regulations; at the same time, the training institution is responsible for developing a plan to strengthen and supplement its permanent teaching staff.

Training institutions must submit reports no later than December 31, 2014. After this date, those programs that do not submit reports or fail to supplement their full-time teaching staff as required will be subject to disciplinary action.
