After a long time of not finding a common voice, the meeting on the afternoon of December 19 between VFF representative, Buu Ngoc and Dong Thap Club leaders came to an end that satisfied all parties.

At 3:40 p.m., the meeting officially took place. Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi (VFF Deputy General Secretary in charge of legal affairs and competition) chaired the meeting between the two parties involved. Buu Ngoc was accompanied by a lawyer to protect his rights, and the representative of Dong Thap Club was General Director Vuong Thanh Trung. The views of the parties at the beginning of the meeting remained unchanged as before. Buu Ngoc was still asked by the club to pay compensation of more than 2 billion VND if he wanted to receive the contract termination papers.

The tense atmosphere lasted for more than 2 hours as neither side would give in. The conference room door kept opening and closing. The phone calls from both sides in the hallway were repeated over and over again, making the reporters both nervous and impatient. Mr. Khoi joked: “After the first half, it’s the second half and then there’s extra time. It might be 9 o’clock before it’s over.”

But Mr. Khoi's prediction fortunately did not come true. At exactly 6pm, Mr. Khoi relievedly invited reporters in to announce the results of the meeting between the parties. Mr. Khoi said: "After many problems between Buu Ngoc and the club, I am happy to announce that the meeting between the parties has had results. From December 20, 2014, Buu Ngoc can sign a contract with any club he wants. Hopefully, Buu Ngoc will maintain his peak performance to play well and contribute to Vietnamese football."

For his part, Buu Ngoc said: “I cannot disclose the compensation fee for Dong Thap to receive the contract termination certificate. That is in the confidentiality clause agreed between me and the club's leadership.”

Although it was not stated, it is likely that the price that Buu Ngoc had to pay Dong Thap to receive the contract termination papers was over 1 billion VND. Through Buu Ngoc's attitude and continuous phone calls on the sidelines of the meeting yesterday afternoon, it is possible that Buu Ngoc negotiated with the clubs he planned to join to negotiate a suitable price.

According to VFF regulations, December 20 will be the deadline for clubs to register their rosters for the 2015 season, which is very urgent for Buu Ngoc personally. However, the future is still a concern for the player from Dong Thap.

Buu Ngoc said: “After today’s meeting, I will have an official decision on which club I will play for. I am currently receiving offers from 3 clubs: XSKT.Can Tho, QNK.Quang Nam and Ha Noi.T&T”. Maybe today, Buu Ngoc will have an official decision on playing for XSKT.Can Tho, a club near his home, or joining Mr. Hien.

After announcing the results, Buu Ngoc asked the media for 1 minute to say a few words to the club he has been with for a long time: “I would like to thank the uncles, the leaders of Dong Thap Club, and the teachers who helped me get to where I am today. I would like to thank Dong Thap fans for always loving, trusting, and encouraging me. I am very sad that I can no longer play for the club, but due to family circumstances, I have to leave.”
