Under 800 million VND which car should I choose?
Currently, buying a Toyota Innova with a budget of less than 800 million VND is almost impossible, but there are still alternatives that suit both financial conditions and usage needs.
For most Vietnamese consumers, Toyota Innova is the ideal choice if you want to buy a 7-seater car for your family. However, with a price tag of 793 to 995 million VND for the new generation, this model is almost "out of reach" for many people. This will be a good opportunity for names that have not received much attention such as Kia Rondo, Suzuki Ertiga or Chevrolet Orlando to reach a large number of potential customers in the small MPV segment.
Kia Rondo: 690-794 million VND
It can be said that Kia Rondo is the only name capable of challenging Innova at this time when it owns an equipment system equal to its competitor, but the price is much more affordable. Officially launched to domestic consumers since November 2014 with the mission of replacing Carens, Kia's new MPV model, although not having the advantage of brand, is gradually conquering Vietnamese customers with its youthful, dynamic appearance and attractive interior and safety features.
Although still using the characteristic tiger nose grille, the appearance of the Kia Rondo has become more prominent than its "predecessor" Carens with details that are boldly sporty but no less elegant. The 5 + 2 seating arrangement brings comfort to passengers, the second and third rows of seats can be folded down to increase luggage capacity. The car doors are quite wide and the floor is low, making it easy to get into the back row, the third row of seats is a bit small but thanks to the dual-zone air conditioning system and ventilation, it does not feel stuffy.
Rondo has two engine options, the 2.0-liter I4 gasoline version produces 150 horsepower and 194 Nm of torque, while the 1.7-liter diesel version produces 135 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. The standard safety and convenience system on the car includes leather seats, DVD entertainment, 6-speaker sound system, AUX/USB/Bluetooth connection, LED interior lights, 2 airbags, ABS brakes, EBD, reverse sensor, keyless start. The Premium version has a panoramic sunroof, 10-way power driver's seat, BA emergency brake assist, HAC hill start assist, ESP electronic balance and increases the number of airbags to 6.
Suzuki Ertiga: 639 million VND
Launched at the Vietnam Auto Show 2014, Suzuki Ertiga as well as Kia Rondo are the “latecomers” who have struggled to find a foothold in the segment. If the Korean competitor uses equipment as leverage, Ertiga targets the most important factor at present, which is the extremely attractive price, the lowest among the small MPV models currently on the market.
Ertiga is built on the same chassis platform as the Swift hatchback, the harmony between these two models is also shown through the exterior design which is somewhat square and brings a gentle feeling. The roof is high, extended and slightly sloped towards the rear to help overcome the size limitation, creating a more airy interior space. Compared to Rondo, the Ertiga's cabin is much more "popular" with only fabric seats, plastic details, and the luggage compartment volume is also smaller even when the third row of seats is folded.
The convenience features in the car are quite simple, including a steering wheel with integrated audio controls, a 4-speaker CD entertainment system, USB connection, and 2-zone air conditioning. In terms of engine, the Suzuki Ertiga imported to Vietnam has only one version with a capacity of 1.4 liters for a maximum capacity of 94 horsepower and a maximum torque of 130 Nm, quite modest but enough for smooth operation on urban roads. The safety system on the Ertiga includes 2 airbags, 3-point seat belts, ABS anti-lock braking system combined with EBD electronic brake force distribution.
Chevrolet Orlando: 699 million VND
Present on the market since late 2011, Chevrolet Orlando once confidently challenged the dominance of Toyota Innova at that time. However, it seems that the strong and rugged appearance of the car from the land of the stars and stripes is not very "popular" with Vietnamese customers, and the Chevrolet brand is not strong enough to put Orlando on the list of names that cannot be ignored when choosing to buy a 7-seat MPV. With the upgraded version in 2015, and the selling price has been significantly reduced, Orlando deserves to be considered at the present time.
Although it is a family car, the Orlando's appearance uses many muscular American lines, most of the important details such as the grille, headlights, taillights, front bumper... are designed simply but large. On the contrary, the inside of the cabin is very suitable for the role of an MPV with spacious space, rich equipment to meet the needs of all passengers. The second and third rows of seats can be folded together or separately to increase the luggage compartment volume when needed.
Some of the outstanding amenities on Orlando include sunroof, steering wheel with integrated audio controls, automatic air conditioning, push-button start and smart key, CD/Mp3 entertainment system, USB/AUX connection with 6 speakers... The car's power comes from a 1.8-liter engine with 140 horsepower and 176 Nm of torque. Providing safety for passengers inside the car are 4 airbags, anti-glare rearview mirrors, anti-lock braking system ABS, EBD, BA and electronic balance ESP.
