Using essential oils for skincare - A safe and effective beauty method.

If you want to try an extremely safe skincare method that contradicts widely circulated skincare theories, this information will be helpful for you.

The most essential ingredient for the skin.

When it comes to vegetable oil, most people immediately think of... the types of oil commonly used in the kitchen to create delicious fried dishes or salads.

However, the advantages of oils are not limited to cooking; they are also incredibly useful when used correctly on your skin, even better than many expensive creams.

Why is that? Fatty acids are essential for replenishing and maintaining moisture to nourish the skin.

With age, the skin cannot produce as many of these fatty acids on its own and needs to be supplemented from external sources.

Oils protect the skin's fatty acid barrier, helping the skin to prevent damage and quickly regenerate its structure.

Few people know that, along with animal fat, vegetable oil was the only material used by people in ancient and medieval times for skincare.

Ancient Egyptians favored castor oil, olive oil, and sesame oils to combat dry, cracked skin caused by the sun and desert sand.

Queen Cleopatra was particularly fond of using sesame oil for skincare. These oils were considered delicacies in ancient times and were often used as a lucrative wage for laborers.

Like the Egyptians, the Romans also loved using oils for skincare. They mixed almond oil to improve wrinkles and blended almond oil with honey to treat brown spots and freckles on the skin.

Ancient Italians preferred using castor oil, or they often mixed avocado oil with macadamia nut oil to make a restorative night cream.

The return of oil

The research of a Greek doctor named Galen brought an end to the era of using organic oils for skincare in Europe.

Many moisturizing creams from this period were made from olive oil, beeswax, and rose water, with Pond's and Nivea products being prime examples.

After humans discovered mineral oil, the cosmetics industry began using it to create creams and lotions instead of organic oils and waxes (beeswax, shea butter).

The golden age of mineral oil lasted from the late 19th century to almost the end of the 20th century, with a range of popular cosmetic products such as creams, Vaseline, and baby oil.

However, mineral oil has been blamed for clogging pores and potentially causing cancer, even though it is considered safe when used in cosmetics and has excellent moisturizing properties when applied to the skin.

The "misconception" surrounding mineral oil has created an opportunity to bring vegetable oils back from obscurity onto women's cosmetic shelves.

The pioneering cosmetics brand to incorporate oil into beauty routines was Shu Uemura, with its cleansing oil product launched in Japan in the late 1960s, which became a huge success.

Later, Josie Maran brought Argan oil from Morocco to the United States, creating a new skincare routine for women there.

Today, skincare using oils has truly boomed with the introduction of a wide range of facial oils from major cosmetic brands.

Clean with oil

Skin experts have proven that while thoroughly cleansing the skin with harsh detergents may immediately give a clean and smooth feeling, within a few hours the skin will become dehydrated, oily, and its condition will gradually deteriorate over time.

However, if cleansed with the right skin-nourishing oils, although it may initially feel unclean or even "greasy," your skin will actually be deeply cleansed, maintaining its softness and oiliness for a long time, while also being nourished and regenerated over time.

Those with oily skin may feel hesitant to use oil to cleanse their skin, but the truth is, it's the oils themselves that help address your excess oil.

Oil is the best substance for neutralizing oil and helping you easily remove dirt, sebum, and blackheads from your pores.

Cleansing oil can be used on the entire face, from eyelashes and eyes to the delicate skin of the lips.

Simply apply a few drops of oil to your skin and gently massage it all over your face until the makeup is removed, and any excess sebum or tiny pimples are cleansed away. Then, gently wash your face with facial cleanser and warm water.

Suitable oils for removing makeup include olive oil and argan oil. Alternatively, you can use Shu Uemura's incredibly popular high-end cleansing oil, which is formulated with special oils and essential oils specifically for each skin type.

Moisturize your skin with oil.

After cleansing, you need a moisturizer that locks in moisture, preventing dehydration, softening, hydrating, and regenerating your skin for a radiant complexion.

And to solve all of these problems with just one product, consider oil. The smooth texture of oil, along with its abundant vitamins, will help you solve almost all your skin problems, especially for dry, thin skin in winter.

Oils are perfectly capable of outperforming creams in your skincare routine. Creams are essentially oil extracts and emulsions, so you can simply use oil to soothe, moisturize, rejuvenate your skin faster, and without causing irritation.

It's incredibly easy to use. Just pour a few drops of oil onto your hands, warm it up by rubbing, and apply it to damp skin.

Note that facial skin needs a certain level of moisture to help oil spread easily across the skin's surface and to retain moisture effectively.

Afterward, you can gently pat your entire face dry again with a cotton pad if desired.

Or, even simpler, you can mix a drop of oil into your regular moisturizer or lotion as part of your daily skincare routine.

Some recommended oils for skincare include avocado oil, castor oil, sesame oil, and argan oil. Their extremely light texture allows them to easily and quickly penetrate deep into the skin's layers, leaving it feeling dry and less greasy.
