Reigning world champion leads Vietnam powerboat racing team
Reigning world champion Jonas Andersson leads the Vietnam - Binh Dinh F1H2O powerboat racing team to participate in the UIM F1H2O Formula 1 Powerboat Race in Binh Dinh.
On January 18, in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province, Fleur de Lys Hospitality Vietnam Company launched the F1H2O Vietnam - Binh Dinh powerboat racing team.
Mr. Tran Viet Anh - Chairman of Fleur De Lys Hospitality Company (the team's sponsor) said that after the negotiation process, the Swedish sailing team signed an agreement with the company to change its name to the VIET NAM-BINH DINH TEAM Formula 1 powerboat racing team to participate in international competitions and world championships organized by the International Powerboat Racing Federation (UIM).
The VIET NAM – BINH DINH TEAM team consists of 2 members: The reigning world champion - Jonas Andersson is the team leader and Stefan Arand - Estonian rookie and Jonas Andersson's teammate.
Jonas Andersson had a successful 2023, winning many prestigious awards such as the UIM F1H2O Cup and the UIM Fastest Lap Cup; and also helped the Swedish team win their first UIM Championship.
Meanwhile, Stefan Arand makes his World Championship debut after finishing third overall in the UIM F2 World Championship last year. The Estonian's dream is to become F1H2O World Champion after winning the UIM F4 World and European Championship titles in 2022.
“This year’s team has young members but high expertise in the tournament. I am confident that my racing team will achieve high results this season…”, Jonas Andersson shared.
March 2024 is the time when the International Powerboat Race will take place for the first time in Binh Dinh, hosted by Binh Dinh F1 Joint Stock Company. This international sporting event marks an important milestone for Vietnamese sports, putting its name on the list of Asian countries that have won the right to host one of the most colorful and attractive water sports races in the world.
Binh Dinh Province will also host the UIM-ABP Aquabike Water Motorcycle Race starting from March 22 to March 24 along with many other exciting events such as food, fashion, music festivals...
Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Lam Hai Giang said that both races will take place in Quy Nhon City. The F1H20 Organizing Committee has confirmed that Thi Nai Bay meets all international standards in terms of water surface, wind, nature and culture to become the world's leading water sports venue.

With the determination, love for speed sports and the Company's commitment and companionship with the province's cultural and sports activities, I believe that the F1H20 Vietnam - Binh Dinh Racing Team will be successful, opening a new direction for the development of national motorboat racing,” said Mr. Giang.
The UIM F1H2O Powerboat Race and the International Aquabike Masters are the world's leading inshore powerboat races. Over the past 39 years, the International Powerboat Federation (UIM) has organized 295 Grand Prix events in more than 33 countries across all continents.
The F1H20 Formula 1 Powerboat Race and the Binh Dinh International Aquabike Championship - 2024 (Binh Dinh Grand Prix - 2024) will gather more than 70 athletes, who are the world's leading racers. This is a great opportunity for water sports enthusiasts in Binh Dinh province and other provinces and cities across the country to directly witness dramatic and memorable races.
