Before giving birth, Joy predicted that her daughter would be heavy because she is 1.72 m tall and weighs 95 kg. However, Joy never thought that the baby would weigh nearly 7 kg. To help the mother give birth successfully, Arnot Ogden Medical Center mobilized three doctors to perform a cesarean section on Joy.
For Joy and her husband, Harper's birth was a miracle because the doctor had told them that they only had a 15% chance of getting pregnant. After 7 years of trying without success, they decided to give up and adopt. In May 2016, Joy unexpectedly discovered she was pregnant. At birth, the Buckleys' first baby weighed 5kg. This time she gave birth to her second baby.
Harper is being monitored in the intensive care unit for injuries, doctors at Arnot Ogden Medical Center said on March 18. She is expected to go home soon.
Joy is also gradually recovering. She shared: "I can walk now. I feel relieved because the pressure on my body is gone."
