What did Kim Jong-un's sister say when asked about Seoul?
When asked how she felt about arriving in Seoul, Kim Yo-jong – the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un – said she did not feel strange at all.
With a wine-colored vest and elegant black pants, Ms. Kim Yo-jong, a high-ranking North Korean official and sister of Mr. Kim Jong-un, attracted the attention of many reporters when she attended a dinner party on February 10 at a hotel in Gangneung province (South Korea).
The banquet was hosted by South Korean Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon and attended by a high-level delegation from Pyongyang.
When asked by Choi Moon-soon, Governor of Gangwon Province, about her feelings about visiting Seoul, Ms. Kim briefly shared: “I don't feel anything strange.”
This is Kim Yo-jong's first visit to South Korea. She is also the first member of the Kim family to visit South Korea since the Korean War.
Also present at the party were Mr. Kim Yong-nam - Chairman of the North Korean Parliament, Mr. Choe Hwi - Chairman of the North Korean National Sports Guidance Committee, and Mr. Ri Son-gwon - head of the North Korean agency in charge of inter-Korean affairs.
Speaking at the banquet, Mr. Kim Yong-nam said: “With the successful opening of the Olympics and the applause from the two Koreas, we truly believe that this will be an activity that paves the way for reconciliation between the two sides, for stronger inter-Korean relations, for solidarity and unity of the people of the two Koreas.”
After dinner, the North Korean delegation went to the Kwandong Hockey Center in Gangneung to watch the first match of the inter-Korean women's hockey team.
Earlier, during a visit to the South Korean Presidential Office Cheong Wa Dae, Ms. Kim Yo-jong and Mr. Kim Yong-nam expressed a message of reconciliation in the guest book.
Also during her visit to Cheong Wa Dea, Ms. Kim Yo-jong gave South Korean President Moon Jae-in a letter from North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-un and invited Mr. Moon to visit Pyongyang.
After a three-day visit, the North Korean delegation will return to South Korea today, February 11.
