At least four people were killed and two injured in a shooting in Darwin, Australia, at 6 p.m. on June 4. The suspect, a 45-year-old white man, has been arrested and police believe he acted alone.

Kim Yo-jong, the younger sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, made her first public appearance in more than 50 days, appearing at a mass event in Pyongyang on June 3. Her appearance once again dispelled rumors from South Korean media that she had been punished by Kim Jong-un after the US-China summit in Hanoi in late February.

KCNA on June 4 released images showing Kim Yo-jong in a very happy state and clapping her hands next to her powerful brother, attending the event at the 150,000-seat May Day Stadium in the capital Pyongyang. She sat next to Chairman Kim Jong-un and his wife, once again affirming her unshakable position next to the North Korean leader.

French President affirms October 31 is the deadline for Britain to leave the EU

President Macron has been a staunch supporter of a tough stance on London after British lawmakers repeatedly rejected the deal that Prime Minister Theresa May's government and Brussels reached in late 2018. After the first extension in late March, EU leaders granted Britain a Brexit delay until October 31 to try to avoid a no-deal scenario, which is seen as seriously disrupting UK-EU trade.

Speaking at a meeting of international bankers at the Elysee Palace, President Macron said he accepted being seen as "rigid" in EU meetings because he thought it would be a big mistake to accept further delays. Mr Macron said October 31 should be the deadline because he did not want the new European Commission (EC) to have to deal with the same old problem again.

China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism on June 4 advised its citizens to be vigilant against "shootings, robberies and thefts" when traveling to the United States. The ministry warned Chinese tourists to fully consider the risks when traveling to the United States, closely monitor information on public security, laws and regulations, and raise awareness of safety and security. The warning is valid until December 31, 2019.

In addition, the Chinese Foreign Ministry also warned businesses operating in the US about the possibility that they could be harassed by law enforcement agencies here. These are the two latest announcements that Beijing has issued in the context of bilateral relations at a difficult time due to the escalating trade war between China and the US.

Israel on June 4 eased restrictions on a fishing zone off the coast of the Gaza Strip, a week after narrowing the area in response to incendiary balloons launched from the Palestinian enclave into Israeli territory.

According to an unnamed Israeli official, the fishing zone off the Gaza Strip has been restored to the 15-nautical mile limit set in April, ahead of Israel's general election, after the country reached a ceasefire agreement with the Hamas militant movement that controls the Gaza Strip, ending escalating tensions in early May.
