'Forcing children to study a lot makes parents fall into the trap of lazy teachers'
"Just a few comments from the teacher like "You write slowly" or "You study worse than your friends" can make parents panic and teach their children to exhaustion," Dr. Vu Thu Huong wrote.
Faced with the situation where many parents and children are tired because their children have too much homework, and even after 10 pm, parents still sit with their children to do homework, Dr. Vu Thu Huong, lecturer of the Faculty of Primary Education, Hanoi National University of Education, tried to find the cause of the problem. According to the doctor, it is lazy teachers and achievement-oriented parents. On her personal page, she wrote about this issue:
Because of the fear that their children will be inferior to their friends and want their children to excel, parents have fallen into the trap of lazy teachers. Just a few comments from the teacher: "Your child studies worse than his friends", "Your child writes slowly", ... "I suggest the family tutor your child" and parents are in a panic, staying up all night to teach their children until they are exhausted.
If parents know the program and goals clearly, it is not difficult to know whether their child can learn or not. If the child is slow in development and cannot keep up, it is okay to let the child repeat the program for another year. If the child is not slow and can still keep up, then parents do not have to be afraid of the teacher and obey her every command.
I know there are some teachers who are extremely lazy. Instead of teaching your children, they just give them homework and "throw" a few words of criticism at their parents and that's it. Tutoring, extra classes, homeschooling, forcing them to study... all possible forms will be used by parents to force their children to study. The teacher's job is to criticize, the parents' job is to rush to do it for her. Then the parents get frustrated.

I think it is important that parents know a little about education. The goals for first grade are simple: read and write fairly well, and add and subtract within 100.Primary school program is universal, all regions can learn it and it is repeated, not today's lesson that can never be learned again.
Therefore, parents should not let teachers use their fears to pressure their children. In cases where they receive the comment "Parents, please teach your child extra...", parents should go to school and see the teacher and clearly state: "The family is not responsible for teaching Math, Vietnamese... to the child, nor do they have the conditions to teach. I sympathize."
Parents can give various excuses such as being busy, having few members in the family, being stupid... so that the teacher cannot assign homework for the parents to do with their children. If they do, they should only give the children 30 minutes to do it. It's okay if they haven't finished yet, if the teacher scolds them, the children will listen, and next time they will study more focused.
If after 30 minutes of speed, the child still can't finish, then stop and tell the teacher, "He's slow, please don't give him any more homework, he can't finish it all." If necessary, parents can show the teacher the policy of the Ministry of Education and Training - students who study all day at school are not given homework.
Weak parents make their children suffer. That's why I say: Parents are their children's destiny. Parents, please pay attention!
