The memo was issued before a train carrying EU officials departed for Ukraine to attend a two-day summit in the country, Politico reported.
The dress code memo was issued last week, even before the EU had finalized the agenda and guest list for the summit. The internal memo is believed to be an attempt to preserve a military look for the host country and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has made the army green T-shirt his wartime uniform.
EU planners may be keenly aware that such a style does not suit diplomats. The European Commission (EC) has not commented on the report.

EU officials have found ways to show solidarity with Ukraine. In June 2022, EC President Ursula von der Leyen wore a yellow vest and blue shirt - the colors of the Ukrainian flag. According to Business Insider, the colors of the Ukrainian flag have become famous since the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out.
The note was sent from the office of the European Commission Secretary General, which is closely monitoring the logistics and protocol for the trip.
Another practical tip is to wear comfortable shoes and a warm jacket. There will also be cold food boxes distributed on board.
