Portugal will be looking to repeat their Euro 2008 and 2012 victories over the Czech Republic when the two teams meet again in the opening Group F match of Euro 2024 at Leipzig Stadium (Germany). Tonight and early tomorrow morning (June 19), the final two matches of the first round of Euro 2024 group stage will take place in Group F, which are Turkey vs. first-time Euro team Georgia (11pm, June 18) and Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal vs. Czech Republic (02am, June 19).

Portugal and the Czech Republic both made it out of the group stages at the last Euros. Euro 2016 champions Portugal were knocked out by Belgium in the round of 16, while the Czechs reached the quarter-finals before losing to Denmark. Portugal and the Czech Republic (including the former Czechoslovakia) have faced each other 14 times in their history, with Ronaldo's side winning seven, losing four and drawing three, scoring 16 goals and conceding 12. Portugal have won their last four games against the Czechs, keeping clean sheets in each of their last three.

Most recently, Portugal beat the Czech Republic 2-0 in Lisbon and 4-0 in Prague in the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League. Joao Cancelo (33rd minute) and Goncalo Guedes (38th minute) scored at the Jose Alvalade Stadium on 9-6/2022 for the Fernando Santos-coached Portugal team, who also beat the Czech Republic 4-0 at the Eden Arena on 24 September of that year, with Diogo Dalot scoring twice (33rd and 52nd minutes), and Bruno Fernandes (45+2nd minute) and Diogo Jota (82nd minute) each scoring once.

Türkiye have faced Gruiza 5 times in their history, winning 3, drawing 1 and losing 1, scoring 12 goals and conceding 5. All 5 meetings between the two teams have taken place since August 2002. In Türkiye’s 3 wins, they have scored 11 goals out of 12 in the 5 meetings.

Most recently, Türkiye coached by Abdullah Avci won 3-1 against Georgia coached by Temuri Ketsbaia in a friendly match in Salzburg on 24 May 2012. First half goals from Hamit Altintop and Nuri Şahin (40th minute) gave Turkey a 2-0 lead. In the second half, Selcuk Inan sealed the 3-1 win for Türkiye from the penalty spot, eight minutes after Davit Targamadze had given Georgia hope by equalizing in the 52nd minute.

Coach Klaus Toppmoller led Georgia to their only win against Türkiye when Davit Siradze scored the only goal of the match in the 76th minute in Tbilisi on 7 February 2007. The two teams had met in the 2006 World Cup qualifiers.

Türkiye are making their sixth appearance at the EURO, their third in a row. They were eliminated in the group stage in the last two Euros but reached the semi-finals in 2008, losing 3-2 to Germany in a dramatic match. Turkey's first appearance in the knockout stages was at Euro 2000, where they reached the quarter-finals and were eliminated 2-0 by Portugal, having made their debut at the tournament four years earlier. At Euro 2020, Turkey finished bottom of Group A without a point, losing to Italy (3-0), Wales (2-0) and Switzerland (3-1).

This is the first time in history that Georgia has participated in a Euro tournament. Among the 24 teams participating in Euro 2024, Georgia is the only newcomer. Coach Willy Sagnol's team is the 36th country to participate in Euro.
