Facebook removes the feature of searching for friends by email and phone number
A very useful feature for people to find each other on Facebook has now been removed.
Mr. Mike Schroepfer, Chief Technology Officer of Facebook, just wrote on his blog:“We believe that in total, approximately 87 million Facebook users in the United States had their information improperly shared with Cambridge Analytica through apps they or their friends used.”. This figure is higher than the previous estimate of 50 million accounts.
One of the issues that deserves a lot of attention is that Facebook has changed everything related to user privacy, including limiting access to third-party applications and deleting call information and messages that have been sent for more than 1 year on the system.
More importantly, you will now no longer be able to search for someone's personal page by phone number or private email, which, according to the company, is a way that bad guys have taken advantage of to steal people's personal information.
As previously reported, Mr. Mark Zuckerberg will participate in hearings before the US Senate and House of Representatives on April 10-11 to talk about the company's use and protection of user data. Mr. Mark will also be the only witness in both hearings.
After the Cambridge Analytica user information leak scandal was exposed, Facebook continuously faced a storm of criticism from users and the media, leading to calls for a boycott and a serious decline in the company's stock value.
