The online courses, which are divided into three 15-minute sessions and are produced in partnership with Poynter, a Florida-based media and journalism institute, teach reporters how to incorporate Facebook tools into their stories. These tools include Instagram photos and videos, Facebook Live and 360-degree videos.
Journalists taking this course will answer questions ranging from "Why is it important to include a location in a Facebook Live story?" to a survey-style question about journalists' assessment of Facebook's features for journalism, "Do these tools [Facebook tools] allow journalists to present their audiences with a picture of an event from every angle?"
Overall, through the quizzes, course organizers hope journalists will develop a mindset about optimizing articles for social media.
