Federer lost to 302nd-ranked player at Stuttgart Open

Swiss tennis player Roger Federer had an unsuccessful warm-up for Wimbledon when he lost to 302nd-ranked player Tommy Haas (Germany) 1-2 (6-2, 6-7, 4-6) in the opening match of the 2017 Stuttgart Open.

This was Federer's first match after two months. However, the Swiss player's comeback was unsuccessful when he lost to Tommy Haas 6-2, 6-7, 4-6 despite playing on his favorite grass court.

This was Federer's fourth defeat in 17 matches against Haas. Speaking after the match, the German said: "It's always special to play with a close friend like Roger on grass. Matches with Roger are always emotional and today (June 14) I was even shocked to beat him."
