FIFA announces 23 nominees for the 2014 Ballon d'Or.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid dominate the list of 23 nominees for the 2014 FIFA Ballon d'Or, each contributing six players.

Four days after announcing the 23 nominees for "Best Female Player of the Year" and "Best Female Coach of the Year," FIFA has released its corresponding list for men.

Here is the list of 23 nominees for the "FIFA Ballon d'Or 2014" award.

Accordingly, the winner of the "FIFA Ballon d'Or 2014" will be decided by the captains and coaches of the national teams, and reputable journalists. The two most recent winners of this award are:Cristiano Ronaldo(2008, 2013) and Lionel Messi (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012) are all nominated. However, at the club level, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid dominate.

Besides Ronaldo, Real Madrid has five other representatives: Toni Kroos, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez, and Sergio Ramos. Bayern Munich has six players: Arjen Robben, Mario Goetze, Thomas Mueller, Manuel Neuer, Phillip Lahm, and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The awards gala will take place in Switzerland on January 12, 2015. In addition to individual awards for male and female players, FIFA will also honor other categories such as Goal of the Year, Fair Play, and Lifetime Achievement Award.
