FIFA invites Thai youth soccer team trapped in cave to watch World Cup final

In a letter to the Football Association of Thailand, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said FIFA has invited the 12 teenagers and their coach currently trapped in the Tham Luang cave in Thailand to watch the 2018 FIFA World Cup final to be held in Moscow, Russia on July 15.
“As we all hope, if they are reunited with their families in the coming days and their health allows them to travel, FIFA would be delighted to invite them to attend as guests at the 2018 World Cup final in Moscow,” Infantino said.
FIFA added that it has been closely following news of the rescue operation since June 23.
Earlier, on June 23, national park staff discovered a motorbike, several bicycles and sports equipment near an entrance to Tham Luang cave. They contacted the local football club, who confirmed that the discovered items belonged to 12 boys aged 11-16 and their 25-year-old coach.
The cave where the soccer team is trapped is about 10 km long. Thai authorities have launched a rescue operation for the victims trapped in the cave.
