Ford recalls nearly 830,000 vehicles due to door latch defect
The American car company Ford has just announced a recall of nearly 830,000 vehicles due to a technical defect in the door latch. The damage is estimated at up to 270 million USD.
According to Ford, a part of the door latch assembly is at risk of breaking, causing the door to open unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion. The rate of this defect is higher in hot climate markets, specifically Mexico and 16 US states.0

The states with recalled vehicles are Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Oregon, and Washington.
The Ford vehicles that must be recalled include: Ford Escape SUVs manufactured between 2013 and 2015, Focus vehicles manufactured between 2012 and 2015, Ford Transit Connect trucks manufactured between 2014 and 2016, and Ford Mustang and Lincoln MKC SUVs manufactured between 2015 and 2016.
Dealers will replace the door latches for customers free of charge. Ford is estimated to spend up to $270 million to fix the problem.
