Fox Sport: "Vietnam is the only opponent that can defeat Thailand"
Asian newspaper Fox Sport rates Vietnam as being on par with defending champion Thailand at this time.
In its article, Fox Sports commented: "Vietnam is holding a huge advantage to enter the next round. In the final round, while Myanmar and Malaysia have to face each other, Vietnam only has to meet Cambodia, which is considered much weaker.
Of course, Park Hang-seo and his team can still be eliminated if they lose by 4 goals to Cambodia, and the remaining match ends in a draw. However, this is unlikely to happen, especially when Vietnam plays at home."
Fox Sport also believes that the Vietnam national team is the only opponent that can overthrow Thailand, the defending champion and is in very good form at this year's AFF Cup.
"Clearly, Thailand is showing how far they are from the regional level. This team only uses the B team but still plays the role of "destroyer" up to now.
And to point out the team that can beat Thailand, Vietnam is the top candidate.
Coach Park Hang Seo currently has a squad with depth and outstanding players, such as Quang Hai, Xuan Truong and especially the defensive trio Ngoc Hai, Dinh Trong and Duy Manh who have not conceded any goals. Not to mention the fact that Tien Dung, Duc Chinh or Tien Linh are still on the bench," Fox Sports commented.
The Vietnam national football team will return to Hanoi today (November 21) to prepare for the match against Cambodia on November 24.
