Suspecting that his wife had an affair with the man in the room next door, the heartless husband used a knife to kill his wife.
On November 20, the High People's Court in Ho Chi Minh City held an appeal hearing and considered the request to reduce the life sentence of Nguyen Dinh Dang (24 years old) for murder.

Dang and Ms. Hoang (23 years old) were born and raised in a poor rural area of Nghi Loc district, Nghe An. After getting married, they went to Saigon to work as workers, renting a room in a collective housing area in Binh Hung commune, Binh Chanh district.
Three years ago, they had their first son, but they had to send him back to his grandparents' home town so that he could go to work and earn money. Late last year, Dang suspected that his wife was having an affair with Duc, who lived in the next room, and they often argued.
On the morning of December 27, 2016, Dang was asked by Mr. Duc's wife to go to a coffee shop to talk because she suspected her husband of having an affair with Ms. Hoang. Dang became even angrier, recorded the conversation, and went home to question his wife.
Dang called Duc and his wife over to confront his wife, but they both denied having an affair. Dang then locked the door and stabbed his wife multiple times with a knife. In a fit of jealousy, he ran across the room and stabbed Duc in the arm.
Hoang was taken to the emergency room by local people but died. After committing the crime, Dang ran to the alley entrance but was subdued by local people and handed over to the police.
In July, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court sentenced Dang to life in prison. Ms. Hoang's family did not ask him to compensate for damages.
Dang appealed for a lighter sentence so he could return home to raise his child. At court today, he refused to accept the appointed lawyer, while the lawyer he hired was absent, so the panel postponed the session.
